Introduction to Garment Making 101

Overview:
In this first class
You review basic sewing machine terminology and usage. You will learn basic garment construction techniques to cut, piece and sew together to complete a raglan T-Shirt and be able to bring these new skills into your next sewing project.
You will learn and understand basic sewing terminology:

Press/Iron         Serge
Binding             Self-Fabric
Contrasting Fabric         GSM and Ounces
Jersey Knit        Natural Fiber
 
Materials:
Pattern (Suggested free pattern Life Sew Savory Kids Raglan or Women’s Raglan) Pieced together and cut to size
Fabric (cotton Jersey GSM 160-200 or 6-10 ounces) 1 or 2 prints and/or colors
Pattern weights
Machine and accessories (accessories, presser feet, thread, extra needles, etc.)
Twin needle size 4,0/75 or 2,5/75 and Jersey Needle 70/10 or 80/12
Scissors or rotary cutter
Thread snips
Fabric safe marking tool
Pins or clips
Pencil
Notebook
