Wait, you can free motion quilt on a vintage Singer Featherweight? Why yes you can, and this foot is an excellent choice to make it possible. This is a new low-shank darning Foot for Free-Motion quilting on Singer Featherweight 221 and 222 sewing machines.

Free motion quilting on a Featherweight is not difficult, but it by adding a few accessories you can make it easier. This darning foot for the Singer Featherweight will get you in the right direction. You should also consider a thread stand, acrylic extension table, and some basic painters tape available at the hardware store.

You may have seen a vintage or new accessory made of metal to cover your feed dogs. Using those add a bit of a bulge underneath your quilt and can also scratch your bed or needle plate on your Featherweight sewing machine. We recommend putting a small piece of painters tape over your feed dogs and setting your stitch length lever to "dead horizon" so the feed dogs move up and down. This will allow for smooth movement without a bulge or the risk of scratching your sewing machine.

We will be adding a video very soon to show you how to do this. Please email or call us if you have any questions.
